Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater

Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater,
Had a wife and couldn't keep her;
He put her in a pumpkin shell,
And there he kept her very well.

Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater,
Had another and didn't love her;
Then she learnt to read and spell,
And Peter loved her very well.

Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater,
Had two wives together.
But everyday they fussed and fought,
Poor Peter grew distraught.

Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater,
Could calm not one nor other,
He put them both on each a mare,
Thus, rid him of the pair.

Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater.
